September, 2018 - It was a beautiful day on the greens as a full complement of golfers gathered at Pitt Meadows Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, BC, to help raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada - BC & Yukon Division at the Local 258 IBEW/BC Hydro Golf Tournament, celebrating our 25th Anniverary event.
IBEW has a close connection with the MS Society and we have been humbled and honoured to have been recognized by this important non-profit Society with a Certificate of Exceptional Achievement for our ongoing support.
The Texas Scramble tournament got underway with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 17th. Teams of four golfers each spent the day on the course and then enjoyed a BBQ Buffet Dinner in the Club House following the game. Raffle tickets were drawn with many of the prizes donated by our generous sponsors.
Golfers included Local 258 IBEW Business Manager Doug McKay and from BC Hydro Mark Poweska, Executive Vice President, Operations and Lanny Sawchuk, Director of Field Operations.
Brother McKay gave greetings and thanks to everyone who came out to support this year's tournament. After dinner he introduced Brother Mike Hurley, retired firefighter, past president of the International Association of Firefighters Local 323 (Burnaby) and current International VP of the IAFF 6th District. Mike is campaigning to be elected as Mayor of Burnaby in this year's municipal elections taking place on Saturday, October 20th.

Many thanks to the tournament organizers Dan Klassen and Mark Davison. And super thanks to the Power Pioneers who helped so much with the tourney, the raffle and the prize setup - we really couldn't do it without you!
Funds raised will be donated to the MS Society.
