    August 2, 2015 - BC's labour community is hosting Labour Day celebrations around the province on Monday, September 7th. A stat holiday since 1894, Labour Day is meant to recognize the valuable contribution working men and women make to their communities, society in general and to Canada’s economy.
    Members working at BC Hydro ratify new collective agreement

    July 7, 2015 - Members of Local 258 IBEW working at BC Hydro voted to ratify a new 5 year collective agreement following more than a year of difficult negotiations with both sides being restricted by the constraints of the government's Economic Stability Mandate issued in 2014.
    The First Annual Rollin for Recovery - a motorcyle ride fundraiser

    June, 2015 - Local 258 IBEW is a proud supporter of the Rollin for Recovery First Annual Power Ride - a motorcycle ride from Langley to Whistler in support of those injured in the powerline trade. The inaugural ride will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2015 starting at 11 am. Entry fee is $50 and there will be a free dinner and prizes.
    Local 258 IBEW reaches tentative agreement with BC Hydro

    June 5, 2015 – The Local 258 IBEW Bargaining Committee has reached a tentative agreement with BC Hydro after many rounds of difficult negotiations that have taken place over the past year. The Committee is recommending acceptance of the agreement.
    Registration now open for 22nd Annual Local 258 IBEW Golf Tournament

    June 4, 2015 - The 22nd Annual IBEW - BC Hydro Golf Tournament is now open for registration. The Tournament will take place at the Pitt Meadows Golf Club on Monday, September 21st. The $110 fee includes your golf cart and a fabulous BBQ steak dinner (with all the fixins!) following the game. Shotgun start at 1:00 pm and the facility will be open for lunch at 11:30 am.

    June 4, 2015 - Unit 2 Chair Gerald Pope reports there are date changes to June's Unit 2 meetings in Quesnel and Dawson Creek and an additional meeting has been scheduled to take place in Williams Lake, as below: The meeting in Quesnel has been rescheduled from June 17 and will now take place on Thursday, June 18 at 4:30 pm.

    April 6, 2015 - After two more days of bargaining with BC Hydro in February, Local 258 IBEW Business Manager Doug McKay, together with the union’s negotiating committee, report that the session produced little, if any, desired results.

    BC Hydro changes benefit plan provider – please submit outstanding 2014 claims by March 15, 2015 deadline

    February 13, 2015 – For Local 258 IBEW members working at BC Hydro, the employer has announced that they have changed providers for your Extended Health Care and Dental Plan from Manulife Financial to Sun Life. You must submit any outstanding claims you have from 2014 to Manulife Financial before the March 15, 2015 deadline in order to be processed.
    Rally for locked out rail workers in New Westminster on February 14, 2015

    February 12, 2015 - RALLY FOR LOCKED OUT RAIL WORKERS IN NEW WESTMINSTER! Show your support for over 100 CUPE Local 7000 Rail Workers who have been locked out for a month by their employer Southern Railway of BC. The rally, which will start at 12 noon on Saturday, February 14, is aimed at raising public awareness of the lockout among Quayside residents.

    Changes to Unit 2 February Meetings

    February 12, 2015 - Brother Gerald Pope, Unit 2 Chair, has advised there have been changes made to the February meetings. Please be advised that the regularly scheduled meeting for Dawson Creek on February 12 has been cancelled. The meeting that will take place in Fort St. John has been changed from February 11 to February 12 at 4:30 pm in the BC Hydro Line Room.
    Contract talks for members working at BC Hydro scheduled to resume

    February 6, 2015 – Local 258 IBEW Business Manager Doug McKay and the union’s negotiating committee representing workers at BC Hydro are scheduled to return to the bargaining table for two more days of talks, currently scheduled for February 19th and 20th.

    January 13, 2015, Burnaby, BC - In a Statement of Claim filed with the BC Supreme Court on December 12, 2014, Local 258 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers launched legal proceedings against BC Hydro and Power Authority and the Government of British Columbia.
    January Unit 6 Meeting in Langley cancelled

    January, 2015 - Due to unforeseen circumstances with the meeting room, the January 2015 Unit 6 meeting in Langley has been cancelled. The next Unit 6 meeting will take place in Langley on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
