    March 12, 2014 - Once again, it is time for Local 258 IBEW’s annual Tom Forkin Memorial Scholarship. This Scholarship was created in 1991, in memory of our first Local President - Brother Tom Forkin, and is open to members, or dependants of members, of Local 258. Up to three (3) individual Scholarships of $1,000.00 will be awarded.
    Members ratify new collective agreement

    Burnaby, BC – Local 258 IBEW members working with Line Contractor companies across British Columbia voted by a margin of 75% to ratify a new collective agreement via a mail ballot vote counted this morning in the union’s office in Burnaby.

    Brother Dan Klassen receives United Way's Joe Morris Community Service Award

    Local 258 IBEW's Dan Klassen, who works in the Burnaby office as an Assistant Business Manager, was the recipient of the 2013 Joe Morris Community Service Award, presented by the United Way of the Lower Mainland at the Labour Appreciation Dinner that took place in Burnaby at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel on December 5.

    Shop Stewards Conference a complete success

    With almost 100 Shop Stewards attending the Local 258’s Shop Stewards Conference, “Defining Our Future”, the weekend event, taking place from November 22nd to November 24th at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel in Burnaby, BC can only be described as a complete success.

    Local 258 IBEW linemen compete in Kansas City Rodeo

    Local 258 IBEW members travelled to Kansas to compete in the 30th Annual International Lineman’s Rodeo that took place in Bonner Springs, Kansas on October 19th, 2013. The Lineman’s Rodeo attracts the best linemen from around the world to compete in events based on traditional lineman tasks and skills.

    Union set to grieve as five BC Hydro workers fired for numerous allegations

    June 28, 2013 – As preliminary information is being reviewed in the matter of five workers at BC Hydro being fired for violations of the Corporation’s Code of Conduct policy, Local 258 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has filed grievances on behalf of the union members who were terminated yesterday.
