The Bylaws and Constitution of the Local Union provides for a Unit Executive, responsible for developing policies for forwarding to the Executive Board for determination and for attending to business of the Unit. The Unit Executive is subordinate to the Local Union Executive Board, elected by the membership every three years.

The Local Union Executive Board, consisting of the Local Union President and six Executive Board members, is responsible for formulating Local Union Policy and overseeing the business of the Local Union.

The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Business Office, administration of Executive Board policy and administration of the Collective Agreements. The Business Manager appoints such Assistant Business Managers and Shop Stewards as he deems necessary to assist him in the efficient handling of the Local Union's business. The Business Manager has a voice but no vote at the Executive Board meetings.

Local 258 communicates to its’ membership through publication of their newsletter, the HOTLINE and maintenance of the website, www.ibew258.bc.ca.

We are affiliated with the BC Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress and have representation at many community labour councils throughout British Columbia.
