Notice to Out of Province Journeymen November, 2008 Guidelines The checklist below shows the steps that Journeymen from outside of British Columbia need to follow, depending on whether or not they have passed their Inter-Provincial Examination: Journeymen WITHOUT IP or Red Seal • Register with IBEW Local 258 • Complete the application to challenge the IP Exam from the Industry Training Authority (ITA) and send it in (leave registration number blank) Journeymen WITH the IP or Red Seal • Register with IBEW Local 258
IN ADDITION, THE FOLLOWING ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO BE ABLE TO WORK ON BC HYDRO SYSTEMS: • Liveline Training at the Electrical Industry Training Institute (EITI) • Proof of 450 logged Liveline hours (a minimum of which must be 300 hours in LL3 Phase) • Limits of Approach Training • PSSP Categories (2) & (3) are mandatory, while PSSP Category (5) authorizes rights to SPG's and Liveline Permits To be authorized to BC Hydro PSSP Category (5), you must provide proof of an IP Certificate and proof of 450 Liveline hours.
Employer Responsibilities: a) Make sure their Journeymen are registered with IBEW Local 258 b) Ensure Journeymen have logged 450 Liveline hours c) Coordinate PSSP Category 2,3 and 5 training as applicable as well as Limits of Approach Training
