Every year, in the Spring, Local 258 IBEW offers the Tom Forkin Memorial Scholarship application. Members, or dependants of members, can apply for one of three (3) individual scholarship awards of $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars).

This educational scholarship was created in 1991 in memory of our first Local 258 IBEW President, Brother Tom Forkin, and is open to members, or dependants of members, of Local 258 IBEW.

This year applicants are asked to complete an application form and to submit a written 750 - 1,000 word essay response to a topic that has been determined by your Union's Executive Board. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 30, 2021.

To be eligible, applicants must be registered, or plan to register in a full-time post-secondary program in 2021/2022 at a BC educational institution. Special consideration may be given to applicants who are attending or planning to attend a post-secondary institution outside of BC, if the program they will be attending is not available in BC. Applicants must have a letter-grade standing of C or better, and copies of the letter-grade standing must be included with the application letter. Mature students may have this requirement waived if approved by the Executive Board.
