BC provincial election called for October 24, 2020
Updated On: Oct 295, 2020

Seeking political stability with a new mandate from British Columbians, Premier John Horgan visited with Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin on Monday, September 21 and asked her to dissolve the legislature. Horgan then called for a provincial election to take place on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Horgan and the BC NDP have governed since 2017. Citing recent challenges with passing needed legislation, and that “the issues of 2017 are not the issues of 2020”, Horgan has made the bold move to call an election now.

He is not the first to do so as voters in New Brunswick recently went to the polls and Saskatchewan has announced an election, with voting taking place two days after BC’s election.

And, of course, there is also an election taking place to the south of us in the USA.
