Delegate Selection for the 2021 IBEW International Convention

Nominations for Delegates to the 2021 IBEW International Convention currently slated to be held during the first three weeks of September 2021 in Chicago, Illinois, will be accepted during the month of March 2021. Nominations are required to be received by Local 258 no later than end of day Friday April 16, 2021. You may nominate yourself or someone else via:

Email: directly to info@ibew258.bc.ca, please include Convention Delegate Nomination in the subject line.

Website: members must log-in and click on the link in the pop-up window to access the direct email link.

Or by phoning the Union Hall at 604-520-3305.

Once the Union Hall is in receipt of the nomination, an email will be sent to the nominee requesting confirmation of acceptance.

Following the nominations, ballots and voting instructions will be sent out by May 3, 2021 and counted on June 2, 2021. No ballots received in the official depository after 9:30 am on June 2, 2021 shall be counted.

Local Union 258 is entitled to a total of 10 delegates. By virtue of their elected positions as per our Local Union Bylaws, the Business Manager and the President are automatic Delegates. This leaves a total of eight Delegates to be elected from the membership. In accordance with the provisions of the Local Union By-Laws, there will be one Delegate elected from each of our six Local Union Units, and two Delegates elected at large. Members not elected but second in the number of votes to each Delegate will be alternates in the event an elected Delegate is not able to attend.

As official Unit Meetings cannot be held this year due to COVID19, and nominations will be taken as above, the Union will hold informational townhall meetings for each Unit using Microsoft Teams.

SEE UNIT STRUCTURE HERE.

Units 1 & 2             Monday April 12th – 7pm

Unit 3                    Tuesday April 13th – 7pm

Unit 4                    Wednesday April 14th – 7:00 pm

Units 5 & 6             Thursday April 15th – 7:00 pm

To be eligible to stand for nomination as a candidate either as a Unit Delegate or as an At-Large Delegate, a member must have been in continuous good standing for two years prior to the nomination date.

During nominations, any potential candidate must be nominated clearly either for “Unit Delegate” or “At-Large Delegate” – no one may run for both positions.

Candidates may supply the Election Judge with a list of their union activities to be included on the ballot, if they choose to do so. This list must be in the union office one week after they have confirmed acceptance of their nomination.

In solidarity,

Dave McMinn,
President
