Expression of Interest: United Way Campaign Associate
Updated On: Jun 171, 2024

Local 258 is pleased to announce that we will be once again sponsoring a Campaign Associate to work with the fundraising team at United Way BC for the Fall 2024 term! The deadline to apply is July 12th, 2024.

What is United Way BC?

United Way BC is a community impact organization that has been helping people in regions across BC for over 90 years. They work with local agencies, governments, donors and community members to strengthen vital connections that support people in need. United Way BC serves over 4 million individuals and focuses on urgent response, children and youth, seniors, poverty, mental health, and food security.

What is a Campaign Associate?

A Campaign Associate is an employee who is loaned from their organization or sponsored by an organization to work for 16 weeks during United Way’s annual Fall fundraising campaign from September to December. They act as fundraising project managers while leading volunteers and inspiring donors to make a positive impact in our community.

What do Campaign Associates do?

Campaign Associates help local organizations to run workplace campaigns, raising funds for programs in the communities we call home. They support key workplace contacts to ensure that they have the materials, strategies, and information they need to fundraise within their own workplaces.

What kind of time commitment is required?

The Campaign Associate role runs for 16 weeks, from September to December, with one week of training at the end of August. It’s a full-time, Monday to Friday position with core office hours, although some campaign events may require you to work early mornings or in the evenings. On those days, you’ll have the flexibility to adjust your workday accordingly.

What experience or qualifications do I need to be a Campaign Associate?

No fundraising or account management experience is required, but customer service or office experience is helpful. You might be a good fit for this role if you are organized and detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and have a passion for community. Being computer savvy, a quick learner, and excelling at managing relationships and supporting others are also desirable qualities for a Campaign Associate.

All Campaign Associates must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle full time during the 16-week term. A cell phone and laptop are also required.

What will I get out of this role?

Aside from being a full-time, paid position, this role is a great opportunity to develop your skills, and to connect with professionals in a variety of industries. You’ll gain valuable training and experience in event management, public speaking, relationship management, and more. Campaign Associates move on to successful careers in a variety of fields, from finance to education to nonprofit to unionized labour and everything in between. The skills learned on the job can be applied to a variety of future career paths.

If you are interested in this opportunity and think you might be a good fit, or if you have any questions, please email Brother Rob Munro (rmunro@ibew258.bc.ca) for more information.
