April 10, 2020 - A group of Local 258 IBEW members working as Apprentice Power Line Technicians at BC Hydro have issued a challenge to consider supporting COVID-19 relief efforts in Canada by making a financial donation through CanadaHelps.org to help fund a range of efforts, including hospital equipment and medical supplies, emergency food to those in need, services for isolated seniors, and much more.
In an email shared with their colleagues, the group of Apprentice Power Line Technicians wrote, “We have been thinking about how fortunate we are to be working during this COVID-19 Pandemic. There are a lot of people who are not able to say the same and are facing some real hardships. This is why we decided to get together as a group and donate what we can to people and/or organizations in need. We are each donating what we can, although $100 is a good suggested target.”
From now until the end of April, all tax-deductible donations will be matched (up to $2 million) by the Gore Mutual Foundation.
Please consider supporting this initiative, if you can, by clicking on the following link, then scroll down to select either “COVID-19 Healthcare & Hospital Fund” or “COVID-19 Community Care Fund” which will then take you to a donation page:
