Master Line Agreement ratified
After more than four months of intense negotiations , including issuing strike notice, members working the Master Line Agreement voted overwhelmingly in favour of ratifying a new contract on May 23rd via digital vote. The agreement was recommended by both the mediator after two days of hearings, and the Local 258 IBEW Bargaining Committee, led by Sr. Assistant Business Manager Joey Sutherland.
The new 3-year contract features significant annual wage increases of 4%, 3% and 3% totalling 10% over the term of the agreement. Highlights include increases to per diem pay, increases to safety clothing allowances and improvements to the benefit package. And, for the first time, members achieved portability of vacation entitlements (accrued time and pay) between signatory employers, so they can ‘take their earned vacation and pay with them’ if they choose to change signatory employers within the agreement.
The new agreement is retroactive to the expiry date of the last contract, January 31, 2022.
