Local 258 IBEW welcomes ICBC’S reconsideration of fleet vehicle drivers policy
Updated On: Mar 13, 2020
December, 2019 - ICBC has now indicated it has reconsidered changes to their new policy affecting a driver’s insurance premium if they were found to be at-fault in a crash with one of the company’s fleet vehicles.
In an email sent on December 10, ICBC explained “this means that crashes that occur in a fleet vehicle will not affect a driver's ICBC premiums, or other policies where they are listed as a driver. Instead, at-fault fleet claims will remain with the fleet policy, regardless of the date of the claim or the vehicle rate class.”
Local 258 IBEW Business Manager Doug McKay is pleased with the change in direction ICBC is taking and says, “Many of our members drive company fleet vehicles in their regular course of work. We heard their concerns about ICBC’s planned policy change regarding fleet vehicle drivers that could have a potential negative impact on personal vehicle insurance rates if they were found to be at-fault in a crash with a company vehicle. We brought this to the attention of our signatory employers that use fleet vehicles and are pleased to see this end result.”
