AN IMPORTANT REMINDER that our Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee is raising funds to help support Food Banks BC! Arrangements have been made with Return-It Express Depots to donate your empty beverage bottles, cans and containers refund directly to the Committee’s “Project Bottle Drive to Survive”.
Today is National Lineworker Appreciation Day, an occasion to celebrate the men and women who keep North America’s electricity running and to memorialize those who have been injured or killed doing their job.

Local 258 IBEW has signed Letters of Understanding for Variation in Start Times for members working at BC Hydro’s MMBU and GMS with an end date of August 31, 2020, that will be reviewed prior to the expiration date to consider if there is a requirement to continue. The LOU for Varied Start Times for Line Field Operations has expired, however if there is a headquarter that requires varied start times in order to achieve social distancing, please contact your Shop Steward, Doug McKay or any of the Local 258 IBEW Assistant Business Managers to discuss your specific situation. IBEW’s Annual Photo Contest is back! Enter your original photo by October 1st and you could win a cash prize and have your photo featured in the IBEW’s publication, “The Electrical Worker”.
The Local 258 IBEW office in Langley remains closed to members and visitors at this time with all Assistant Business Managers working remotely. A reminder that you can pay your union dues by Visa, Master Card or E-Transfer by calling the Union Hall at 604-520-3305 or toll-free 1-877-520-3305. Staff meetings continue to take place weekly by conference call and all Union business, including member representation and servicing, remains active and ongoing. Administrative support staff continue to work on-site delivering member and Union business services. A date for the office re-opening remains undetermined.
Unit meetings remain cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic group gathering and social distancing requirements.
The Union’s Executive Board continues to conduct regular monthly meetings by conference call and the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Minutes of the July 7 meeting will be posted on your Union password-protected website as soon as they are available.
