August 4, 2020 - Got more empties?
The Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee wants you to start collecting your empty beverage bottles, cans and containers and then drop them off on Saturday, August 29th at the Universal Group Yard at 7678 132nd Street in Surrey to help support Food Banks BC!
This fundraising event is part of the Union’s Committee campaign with Return-It Express Depots in BC to donate your returnables refund directly to the Local 258 Women’s Committee as we raise funds to help so many families who are in need in our communities.
“We would like to thank GoTraffic Management, part of the Universal Group, who have offered their Yard in Surrey on Saturday, August 29th from 10 am to 3 pm so we can accept your bottle and container drop offs,” says Sister Dayna Gill, Chair of the Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee. “Return-It has been great in helping us get this fundraiser started and we’ve had a great response with raising over $255 so far!”.
The Return-It campaign remains ongoing – find out more here.
The Saturday August 29th event is COVID aware and will be following strict socially distancing and handwashing precautions and all volunteers will be wearing masks. Just drive up to the Yard and we’ll do the work!
All refunds will be donated to Food Banks BC that represents and supports 100 food banks across our province that, every month, help more than 80,000 individuals, including more than 25,000 children. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen job loss and school closings and many families are facing difficult circumstances with trying to feed their families. Supporting Food Banks BC is a way we can help British Columbians who are in need at this time.
