September 29, 2020 - Our Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee has now tabulated the final donations from our Union’s members that have come in to the Bottle Drive to Survive campaign supporting Food Banks BC.
“Our fundraiser has been a great opportunity for our Women’s Committee members to work together on this volunteer effort and I am very pleased to report that, thanks to our Local 258 IBEW members, we have raised a total of $2,220.00,” says Sister Dayna Gill, Chair of the Committee.
This fundraiser ran from June to September with members and supporters donating their empty bottle and container refunds at Return-It Express depots, including a successful drive thru event on August 29th. The Committee also received some direct financial donations.
“We’re very encouraged with the success of our bottle drive campaign supporting Food Banks BC and are going to keep our account open with Return-It as we decide on the next fundraising campaign,” says Sister Rachel Allan, Vice Chair of the Committee and recently appointed Unit 6 Chair. “Our Committee meets on a regular basis and is currently discussing future opportunities to contribute to the community. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there are so many who are in need and we want to do our part to help.”
You can still donate your empties refund today! Find out how here:
How you can help:
Collect your empty beverage bottles, cans and containers and place them in a large, clear plastic bag or transparent recycling bag (recommended size 36 inches tall x 30 inches wide) – read details about bags here.
Find your local Return-It Express Depot – click here to find a location.
Drop your bags at the Express kiosk - please note, there is a limit of six bags per visit – and enter the Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee account number:
6 0 4 5 2 0 3 3 0 5
You’ll be prompted to enter the number of bags you’re dropping off and the kiosk will print sticker tags – one to be applied to each bag – and then drop the bags at the designated drop-off area.
That’s it! Easy, eh?
Staff at Return-It will count the items in your bag and calculate the refund that will be deposited into the Local 258 IBEW Women’s Committee account.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
