POSTED FEBRUARY 25, 2022
Twenty-four months ago, Local 258 IBEW President Dave McMinn suspended all in-person Unit Meetings across the province when public health orders were issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic limiting public gatherings. The suspension was approved by IBEW Canada.
With restrictions now being eased as we move through this transitional phase of the pandemic, President McMinn has advised that Unit meetings will officially resume in March with a series of nomination meetings where members nominate candidates in preparation for this year’s Union elections.
All in-person Unit meetings were suspended in April of 2020 as public health orders restricted public gatherings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Public health officials remain proceeding with caution and have recently determined that many restrictions can now be eased. Accordingly, the March nomination meetings will currently be subject to the following public health orders:
• You will be asked to show your BC ID and vaccination QR code.
• Masks will be required at these indoor events
Meetings have been scheduled as follows:
Unit 1 – Terrace Tuesday, March 15 @ 7:00 pm Best Western Inn
Unit 2 – Prince George Thursday, March 17 @ 7:00 pm Coast Inn of the North
Unit 3 – Vernon Thursday, March 17 @ 5:30 pm Army & Navy Club
Unit 4 – Nanaimo Tuesday, March 15 @ 5:30 pm Cavallotti Lodge
Unit 5 – Vancouver Thursday, March 17 @ 5:00 pm Italian Cultural Centre
Unit 6 – Langley Tuesday, March 15 @ 6:00 pm IBEW Union Hall
Virtual Union Executive Board meetings have continued during the past 24 months with minutes being posted on your password-protected Union website at www.ibew258.bc.ca.
All members have been notified by lettermail of the details of meeting procedures including candidate requirements. A copy of the letter is included below:
