Bargaining set to get underway for Master Traffic Control Agreement
Updated On: Feb 37, 2023

Attention: To all Local 258 IBEW members working in traffic control:

Posted November 25, 2022

We are coming close to meeting with traffic control employers to commence bargaining for the Master Traffic Control Agreement. We do not currently have buy-in from all the employers. This first meeting will determine which companies will be moving forward and joining the Master Agreement. Once we know which companies are confirmed, we may add additional Shop Stewards to our Bargaining Committee.

The first meetings will take place November 30 and December 1. Last summer, all traffic control members were given an opportunity to submit suggestions. We have prepared our proposals based on those suggestions from the membership, the current market conditions and the high demand for labour in our current economy.

We are specifically looking to increase wages, RRSPs, and health benefits along with many additional proposals.  Our goal is to ensure traffic control members of IBEW Local 258 to be paid fairly and equitably. We believe in equal pay for equal work.

We have a unique opportunity to bring this into effect now. There is strength in organized labour and a particularly high demand for traffic control people. You are sought after and valued – now is the time to fight for you to receive better wages, benefits and working conditions.

When it is time to vote we will be employing an electronic voting system: Simply Voting. Please make sure your email address is up to date with the hall as well as ensure you are registered on our website with a member account.

If your agreement is about to expire, please note we will likely continue negotiations into the new year. Many of you will still benefit from a COLA clause on January 1 (please consult your current CBA to see if you qualify). Those who have later expiry dates will continue to rely on their current agreement until the expiry of the contract, unless otherwise agreed to with your employer.
